The most commonly asked questions about Colourful Coffins

Help, there’s so much to do, where do I start?

If you or your family like the idea of a Colourful Coffin, then the easiest place to start is simply by picking up the phone and giving us a call. Or you can email us and we’ll call you back at the earliest opportunity.

If you’ve seen a design you like in our picture gallery, then you can tell us about it or, if you want to create a new design, we’re here to help. We can also put you in touch with your nearest Colourful Coffins stockist who can make the funeral arrangements.

I’m hopeless at drawing but I want a special design.

Don’t worry. That’s why we have a team of in-house designers and you can speak to directly to tell them what you want. They’ll email the design through to you or your funeral director within 24 hours and then we can make any adjustments that you want.

How quickly can you make a Colourful Coffin, I don’t want to delay things and the funeral director tells me it might take longer.

It doesn’t take us any longer to produce a Colourful Coffin with your chosen design than it would to order any other one. As soon as we receive the information about the design you would like, we will produce a proof and email that through either directly to the family or via the funeral director.

Our picture coffins are usually designed and completed within a maximum of 48 hours, so rest assured it won’t delay the funeral arrangements. If necessary, we can also offer an express 24 hour service.

What happens if I don’t like the design or the colours?

Our design team goes to great lengths to ensure they meet the family’s wishes and if there are any changes then we are very happy to make them straight away. We want to make sure each and every design is absolutely right.

What happens if there is a mistake on the coffin when it arrives or it is damaged?

On the very rare occasions when there are any problems, then we offer a free 24-hour replacement service.

My little girl loved Barbie, can I have a Barbie coffin?

We always have to ask the relevant organisation or authority for copyright approval before we can use a character image. Many organisations are very sympathetic to our requests, but if permission isn't forthcoming for any reason, then we will work with you to come up with a suitable alternative.

My little boy was a real football fan, I’d love to have his favourite club’s logo and colours on his coffin as a special send-off. Is that possible?

It’s the same with sports clubs as it is for other images, we do have to ask copyright permission, but they are generally very sympathetic. If we can’t get permission for any reason, then we will do our best to find an alternative but suitable image.

Who owns the designs?

Our designs and artwork remain our property, but we license it to our customer families in perpetuity for their exclusive and personal use only.

Can you tell me how much a Colourful Coffin costs?

I’m sorry, because we don’t sell directly to the public we can’t give you a price. However, we can put you in touch with your nearest funeral director who stocks Colourful Coffins and he’ll be able to do so very quickly. Generally speaking, the cost of a Colourful Coffin should be on a par with a typical pine coffin.

Do I have to deal with you via my funeral director, or can I call you direct?

We welcome calls from any families who would like to speak to us directly and you’re also welcome to visit our offices in Oxfordshire and see how we work. It’s something families often like to do. With regards to the actual ordering process however, this does have to come via the funeral director as we don’t sell directly to the public.

What if my local funeral director doesn't offer Colourful Coffins?

In this case, please contact us and we would be happy to contact the funeral director on your behalf or put you in touch with someone nearby who is a stockist. Alternatively, you can find more funeral directors in your local area using our online stockist locator.

How environmentally friendly is a Colourful Coffin?

We feel very strongly about the environment and do everything we can to adopt a green approach. We only use biodegradeable paper or material wraps and environmentally friendly inks, and our 100% recycled cardboard coffin is the greenest in the UK.

We also work with Climate Care to offset the greenhouse gas emissions each time one of our coffins is cremated and plant a tree in our own memorial woodland each time one of our coffins is buried.
